YOUTH BASKETBALL TRAINING TIPS
With the holiday break from basketball, you may be wondering what you can do to help your child improve their skillset. Basketball is a sport that a player can easily improve his all-around game with a variety of solo drills. If your player would like to see some drills or games for taking their game to a higher level, have them check out: http://www.starpotentialsports.com/basketballtraining.html. I think all players can benefits by continuing to work to improve their abilities. Have fun!
WILDCATS 29, GOLDEN BEARS 20
After two fairly easy games, the Wildcats finally faced a team with some fight in the Golden Bears. However, the the Wildcats had enough firepower to hold on for a 29-20 win and race to 3-0 in the standings. By halftime, the Wildcats had surged to a comfortable 15-5 lead. The Golden Bears responded with a big 3rd Quarter though, that saw the lead shrink to 19-14. The Wildcats responded like true champs though and turned up the defense to close out the win. Tyler led all scorers with 15 points, while Hekili added 8 points and dominated the boards with numerous rebounds. Also getting on the scoreboard were Ricky, Jonathan, and Isaac each with 2 points. The rest of the team contributed strong defense to keep the lead and perfect season safe. Overall, another tremendous effort from the players.
Happy holidays to all Wildcats Families! Enjoy the break!

WILDCATS 45, TAR HEELS 6
The Wildcats continued to scorch the nets with a dominating 45-6 win over the Tar Heels. In the process, they ran their season mark to 2-0 and continue the march towards a league title! In every sense of the word, Saturday's win was a team effort that saw six different players score, and great defense and hustle from every team member. Hekili led all scores for the week with 16, while Tyler chipped in 13 and Ricky added 6. Michael and Jackson both got in on the scoring as well and had 4 points each. Finally, Isaac got his first bucket of the season on a nice putback. Though they didnt get in the scoring column this week, Kiran, Jonathan, and David all had big rebounds, steals, and assists. Overall, it was a great performance by the boys!

WILDCATS 36, JAYHAWKS 16
The Wildcats opened the '08-'09 Basketball Season with a tremendous 36-16 win over the Jayhawks. Overall the team showed lots of energy and created numerous turnovers which led to fastbreak opportunities on the other side of the court. Tyler led all scorers with 15 points, while Hekili added 12 and Ricky chipped in 7. Kiran rounded out the scoring with 2 points. For the others who didnt get on the board this week, there were still highlights with lots of good defense, rebounds, and steals in a true team effort. Based on this initial effort, it looks like we have a lot of fun Saturdays ahead of us. Great job Wildcats!

TEAM UPDATE 12-4-08
Hello Wildcat Families,
Just a reminder that we open the season on Saturday at 9am for our first game. Please have your son there at least 15 minutes early, and please let me know if he will be unable to attend. To distribute the minutes fairly, I attempt to plan out the player rotations, and a missing child throws the whole thing out of sync,
Also, next week's practice is scheduled for Thursday at 8pm. Tyler has a school event that we must attend that evening, so I will be unable to cover the practice. If someone would like to volunteer to work with the boys, it would be appreciated. Otherwise, I will need to cancel the practice.
Finally, as the kids play hard and enjoy snacks, I wanted to invite each family to sign up for game day snacks. We have nine kids and nine games, so it works out to everyone covering one game. Kiran's family has generously volunteered to cover this week's game: If you can, respond to me with a date you'd like to cover and I will send out a snack schedule:
12/6 - Kiran
12/13 -
12/20 -
1/10 -
1/17 -
1/24
1/31 -
2/7 -
2/14 -
Looking forward to getting the season started on Saturday!
